Be a participant in the fight for respect for the Bengali language: MA Ali

Kolkata: The fight for respect for the Bengali language has begun. International karate coach and champion MA Ali has appealed to everyone to join the movement.

June 20 is the birth anniversary of Bangladesh’s famous litterateur Begum Sufia Kamal. On this occasion, a programme was organized at the historical residence of famous Bengali litterateur Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay to pay tribute to her. In which many writers and litterateurs from the country and abroad participated. Many litterateurs from neighboring country Bangladesh also participated in the programme. The interesting thing is that in this gathering of litterateurs, the chief guest was not made to any litterateur, but to the famous sports personality, international karate coach and champion MA Ali.

Addressing the program, MA Ali said that Bengali is the official language of our state. Most of the people of the state speak in Bengali language. Despite this, the language of the state is not getting due respect in the state itself. Which is very sad. It is disrespectful to have the sign boards of most of the private schools and companies in the state in English instead of the Bengali language. I have raised my voice against this, which has now taken the form of a movement. It is my appeal to all the people of the state to support us in this movement.

MA Ali said that a large number of writers and litterateurs are participating in this fight for the respect of Bengali language. An important meeting will be held at the Coffee House in the first week of July to decide the strategy for this movement.

MA Ali said that I wish that Bengali language litterateurs should also be honoured in the World Meet 2022 to be held in Bangkok in September this year. A decision on this issue will be taken in the meeting to be held on June 27.
