West Bengal Urdu Academy awards Abul Hasan High School
Kolkata: Abul Hassan High School, the only English medium educational institution of Muslims in Kolkata, was awarded today by the West Bengal Urdu Academy. Abul Hasan High School was awarded the Khidmate Ilm-o-Adab Award in a program organized during the Urdu Book Fair.
The award was given to Dure Shahwar, principal of Abul Hassan High School. Rajya Sabha MP Nadeemul Haque, MLA Naina Bandopadhyay, Councilor Rehana Khatoon, Calcutta Muslim Orphanage Secretary Abdul Qaiyum Ansari and many dignitaries were present in the programme.
Abul Hasan High School has been established by the Calcutta Muslim Orphanage. Its purpose is to provide modern education to the Muslim society. It is the only English medium school run by a Muslim institution not only in Kolkata, but in the whole of West Bengal.
The establishment of Abul Hasan High School has not taken much time, but in a very short time this school has played an important contribution in the promotion of education. Most of the children from poor families study in this school. Many such children also get education here, who do not have parents. The team of teachers of the school under the leadership of Principal Dure Shahwar is constantly trying to spread the light of education in the Muslim society.
