A.K. Fazlul Haque Girls’ Higher Secondary School Holds Annual Athletic Sports Meet 2025

Kolkata: The Annual Athletic Sports Meet 2025 of A.K. Fazlul Haque Girls’ Higher Secondary School was successfully held today at the St. James’ School Ground, under the leadership of Principal Farzana Saleem.

The event featured a colourful march past, impressive drill displays, and a variety of races. Winners were felicitated with prizes and certificates.

A highlight of the day was a full-contact karate demonstration by the school’s karate-trained girls. The institution has introduced karate training for all students to promote self-defence skills, physical and mental fitness, and to instill values of justice and truth.

Among the distinguished guests were former karate champion Sana Ahmed, who serves as the school secretary and councillor of Ward 62; Abdul Majeed, President of the Calcutta Muslim Orphanage; Abdul Qayyum Ansari, General Secretary of the Calcutta Muslim Orphanage; and other committee members including Shahid Rashid, Golam Sadique, Md. Noor Alam Azmi, and Md. Hossain. A large number of other dignitaries and parents also attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Qayyum Ansari, General Secretary of the Calcutta Muslim Orphanage, praised the students’ strong performance in board examinations and expressed pride in their achievements. He noted that the school is one of the units under the Calcutta Muslim Orphanage, which operates three schools in total.

Ansari further emphasised the introduction of karate, stating, “For self-defence, physical and mental fitness, we have introduced karate. In two to three years, all our students will achieve black belts, similar to schools in Japan.”
