Calcutta Public English School Celebrates 10th Annual Sports Day with Grandeur

Kolkata: The 10th Annual Sports Day and Cultural Programme of Calcutta Public English School was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The programme was formally inaugurated with the hoisting of the national flag by the Director of the school, Asghar Ali Khan. This was followed by the flag salute and a message of peace and well-being delivered by the Principal, Nushabah, inspiring students and guardians alike.

A special highlight of the event was the vibrant participation of students and the enthusiastic presence of parents, which was clearly reflected in the programme visuals and performances. On the first day, Shauban Ali from Adams University graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The programme was further enriched by the esteemed presence of Milan Das, Head In-Charge of Sports, former Labour Commissioner, and former officer of the Calcutta Municipal Corporation; renowned dance guru Sakthi Singha; and Jati, Secretary, whose presence added prestige and colour to the celebrations.

Students mesmerized the audience with a disciplined March Past and captivating cultural dance performances, earning loud applause and appreciation. A special attraction was the karate performance, presented by students trained up to Black Belt level under the guidance of M. A. Ali, Director of World Meet (UK & Thailand), whose dedication to martial arts training at the school was widely praised. The impressive card display performance by the students and teachers left the audience spellbound.

On the second day of the Sports Meet, the event was honoured by the presence of distinguished guests including Naseem Akhtar, former Indian footballer; Khawaja Ahmed Hussein, noted writer and poet; and the Ward Councillor of Ward No. 8, along with representatives from the municipal Swachh initiative.

Addressing the gathering, Director Asghar Ali Khan highlighted the school’s progressive vision, stating that Karate and AI classes were introduced in 2025, and announced the launch of Coding and Robotics classes in 2026 to prepare students for future challenges.

The programme was successfully coordinated under the leadership of Sports In-Charge Mohammad Shafi Allah and Cultural In-Charge Talat Firdous Marang, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the parents, students, teachers, and guests for their cooperation and for promoting the true spirit of sportsmanship and peace.
