Bait ul Maal Girls high school student selected in indian team for World championship Thailand
Kolkata: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee is my inspiration said World Karate Champion Erum Seraj, class 11 student of Bait ul Maal girls higher secondary school, who is again selected in the indian Karate association team to represent the country in the forthcoming third world karate championship Thailand to be held on 20th September 2023 at Royal Rattnakoshin Hotel in Bangkok.
M. A Ali, coach of Erum, said that Erum Seraj belongs to a very poor family, last year at the world championship she knocked out her opponent from Pakistan in a few seconds and won gold for the country. Tony Taylor of USA, chairman of World Martial Artists Council, highly appreciated Erum Seraj. MP Sudip Bandopadhyay, MP Mala Roy, Minister Jawed Ahmed Khan, Former Sports Minister Madan Mitra, MLA Swarna Kamal Saha, MLA idris Ali and local councillor Iqbal Ahmed, all congratulated Erum Seraj.
After returning from the last World Championship, she was badly injured and sick, due to financial crunch, she could not go to coaching classes, now the real challenge of her life has begun. At one side her tough studies, on another side again to fight for the country and get the gold.
Zuber Alam, assistant teacher at Islamia High School kolkata said Fatima Tabassum, headmistress of Bayt Ul Maal Girls High School was once my colleague and she is brave and talented lady and her students are also talented like Erum Seraj.
