
Howrah Pilkhana United Club and Shahjahan Academy Host Ration Kit Distribution Event with Prominent Attendees
Howrah, March 10, 2025 – The Howrah Pilkhana United Club (HPUC) and Shahjahan Academy organized a impactful Ration Kit Distribution event at Pilkhana, Howrah, aimed at supporting the local community. This initiative, which began in 2019 under the leadership of Sk. Sikandar, the founder of Shahjahan Academy and General Secretary of HPUC, has grown significantly over the years. What started with providing ration kits to 180 individuals has now expanded, with this year’s event distributing kits to 650 needy persons, reflecting the growing scale of this humanitarian effort.
Sk. Sikandar, who also runs a free school and engages in extensive social work, has been a cornerstone of community welfare in Pilkhana. Speaking at the event, Mushrat Khanam, another dedicated social worker in attendance, praised his efforts, noting that his commitment to uplifting the underprivileged has been complemented by her own contributions to the community.
Together, their work has created a robust support system for the
residents of Pilkhana, addressing critical needs like food security and education.The event was graced by several prominent figures, whose presence highlighted the community’s collective support for this cause. Chief Guests included Bishop Sarkar, DCP North and Howrah Police Commissioner; Moulana Abdul-Hajj Hamid Habibi, Imam of Karbala Jama Masjid in Pilkhana; and Gautam Chowdhury, MLA of North Howrah. Guests of Honour included Sk. Sikandar, Abdul Gaffar (ACP), Suphip Singh (OC), Mushrat Khanam, and Sk. Sabir, the President of HPUC.
