Muslim Mirror names Aamir Idrisi among 100 Most Influential Muslims of 2024

Muslim Mirror, in collaboration with Minority Media Foundation, has released a list of the 100 most influential people among Muslims across the country. The list covers many fields including politics, religion, literature, business, education, sports and entertainment. An effort has been made to include people from all sects and prominent personalities from all regions among Muslims.

Aamir Idrisi, the dynamic and young president of the Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP), has been selected in the social leaders category in the list. He is one of the youngest people to receive this prestigious nomination. The list includes other important personalities like Azim Hashim Premji, Maulana Arshad Madani, Sheikh A. P. Aboobacker Musliyar, Syed Muhammad Amin Mian Qadri Barkati, Asaduddin Owaisi, A. R. Rehman, Dr. Abdul Qadeer, Maulana Mahmood Madani, Syed Saadatullah Hussaini, Maulana Saad, among others.

Aamir Idrisi expressed his happiness over the news and said, “I appreciate and am grateful for this honour given by Muslim Mirror and Minority Media Foundation.” He further said that it is a great privilege to be selected with such exemplary and respected personalities and I will continue to work selflessly for the welfare of the community and my country and nation. (Lord willing)”

Aamir Idrisi further said that he got the motivation to do such social work due to the special training of his mother who kept him connected with such social, and community related work since childhood. It is to be noted that Aamir Idrisi’s mother passed away just a few months ago.

Being from a simple family, Aamir Idrisi received his primary education from an Urdu medium school. And he pursued his higher education in computer engineering from Haji Saboo Siddique College of Engineering in Mumbai and started his professional life in 2002. The Sachar Committee report, which mentioned the extreme backwardness of Muslims in education and economic life, had a great impact on him. He left his lucrative professional job and, along with a few like-minded people, formed AMP in December 2007 to educate and empower Muslims. History is a witness, that today AMP is one of the largest Muslim organizations working for the nation and the society. AMP is a non-profit organization, which serves in the fields of education, employment and empowerment at the national level. It is a platform for Muslim professionals and volunteers to contribute their knowledge, intelligence, experience and skills for the overall development of not only the Muslim community but also the society at large.

Muslim Mirror and Minorities Media Foundation have selected individuals for the preparation of this list based on inclusiveness and diversity, representing achievers from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Assam to Gujarat. The project aims to counter the negative image of Muslims being portrayed by corporate-run biased media houses under a specific political agenda. By compiling this list, Muslim Mirror has tried to present a positive narrative so as to bring to the fore the development of the country and the vibrant and diverse efforts of Indian Muslims in society.
