Kolkata: Senior TMC leader and former councilor of ward number 55 of Kolkata Arun Das alias Bishu da has passed away. He was ill for many days. His death has caused a wave of mourning in the area.
TMC general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee, MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Mayor Firhad Hakim, Kolkata Municipal Corporation MMIC Amiruddin Bobby, TMC leader Ashok Chakraborty, former minister and CPIM leader Debesh Das reached his house on hearing the news of Arun Das’s death and paid tribute to the late Arun Das.
Late TMC leader Arun Das was not only extremely popular in his locality but also had a huge following in the sports world. On hearing the news of his death, students of Karate class running at Ramlila Park also reached his house along with their coach MA Ali and paid tribute to him. Late Arun Das used to actively participate in sports activities. When Manimala Haldar, a resident of his ward, did not have the ticket money to go to Bangkok to participate in an international karate competition, Arun Das helped Manimala Haldar financially. In a meeting a few days before the Met, he had promised to build a dressing room for karate players at Ramlila Park.
