MA Ali welcomed the decision to make Bengali language compulsory in English medium schools, thanked the CM Mamata Banerjee 

Kolkata: The West Bengal cabinet on Monday approved a proposal to make Bengali a compulsory second language in English medium schools. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
International karate coach and champion MA Ali has welcomed the decision of the West Bengal government. He has called it a historic decision and thanked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for this.

Significantly, MA Ali had been raising the demand for making Bengali language compulsory in English medium schools for a long time. He says that it is necessary for every person living in Bengal to learn Bengali language, because the regional language has a different importance. Just like Gujarati language is spoken in Gujarat and Punjabi language is spoken in Punjab. Similarly, people of Hindi, Urdu and other languages living in Bengal should learn, read and speak Bengali.

MA Ali is also demanding to write the names of English medium schools in Bengali language as well. He said that when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made Bengali language compulsory in English medium schools, now the signboards of these schools should also be in Bengali language. This is a matter of identity of Bengal. MA Ali said that I hope that the state government will accept this demand as well.
