Varanasi’s Karate Champion Rajeev Prasad Selected for 8th World Open Karate Championship in Bangkok; to Receive International Sports Award

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh): Rajeev Prasad, the talented karate athlete from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, has been selected to represent India at the 8th World Open Karate Championship, which is scheduled to take place on June 7, 2026, at the Royal Thai Army Club in Bangkok, Thailand.

More than 50 countries are expected to participate in this prestigious international event. The championship will be inaugurated by His Majesty the King Sanywijaya Natakusumah, King of Indonesia, in the esteemed presence of the Queen, princes, princesses, and members of various international royal families. A grand cultural program along with a special Thai martial arts demonstration will also be organized during the event.

In a proud moment for the nation, Rajeev Prasad will be honored with the International Sports Award by the King himself during the championship.

Rajeev has an outstanding record, having won several gold medals in prominent international karate competitions held in Thailand and Indonesia. His achievements have brought significant recognition to Varanasi and India on the global stage.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously blessed and appreciated Rajeev Prasad for his remarkable accomplishments in karate. Rajeev has often credited PM Modi’s encouragement as a major source of motivation in his sporting journey.
