Lions Club and Rotary Club honored India’s highest graded martial artist MA Ali
Kolkata: India’s highest graded martial artist MA Ali was honored today by the prestigious Lions Club and Rotary Club. MA Ali was accorded civic felicitation by Lions Club of Kolkata Magnates and Rotary Club of Kasba during a program organized at Krishnapada Ghosh Memorial Hall in Kolkata on Wednesday.
On this occasion, Ashish Basak, President, Lions Club of Kolkata Magnates said that he is proud to honour MA Ali. The amount of work that MA Ali has done to promote karate in India and abroad, the amount of praise that can be appreciated is less. Rotary Club of Kasba President Subhasish Bose and Honorary Secretary Seba Gupta were also present in the program.
MA Ali, who learned karate since childhood, is currently India’s highest graded martial artist. He is the holder of 10th Dan Black Belt and 6 Level Gold Belt (Thailand).
MA Ali has been giving free karate training to people in Kolkata since 2013 to girls to fight against crime. Apart from ordinary women and men, doctors, engineers, journalists also come to his karate class. He is also the Lifetime representative of World Mixed Martial Art Council (UK) and being appointed director of World Meet.
Today, Karate training is being given to children in every major school in India. It was also started by MA Ali. He first started teaching Karate to students at Don Bosco School in Kolkata. Today, not only in Kolkata, but in almost all good schools of the country, children are given training in karate. The credit for this also goes to MA Ali.
MA Ali has contributed significantly in popularizing karate not only in India but also in Thailand. There was a time, when youth in Thailand preferred to learn only Thai boxing. MA Ali promoted karate by organizing shows in various schools in Thailand. After which now full contact karate has become very popular in Thailand as well.
