Chai wala’s son will represent India in the World Championship: Still help is not coming from anywhere, father took loan from bank to send his son to the competition

Kolkata: A Chai Wala has become the Prime Minister of the country on the strength of his hard work, but not every Chai Wala is as lucky as him. Thousands of kilometers away from Delhi, a tea seller in West Bengal had to take a loan to send his son to participate in the Karate World Championship.

Amjad Molla lives in a village in Champahati area of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. He is very poor. His brother has a tea shop outside Champahati station, in which he works. Amjad Mollah’s younger son Suraj Mollah studies in class six. He is fond of learning karate. Suraj wants to become a police officer. He has been learning karate for the last several years. During this he has also won many competitions. Seeing Suraj’s talent, he has been selected in the 26-member Indian team to participate in the Karate World Championship 2023.

The 3rd Karate World Championship 2023 is going to be held on September 20 in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. The preparations of all the players are in full swing. But getting to Bangkok for Suraj is not that easy. Despite winning many competitions, Suraj has not received any help from anywhere till date. Central and state governments are spending crores of rupees on the development of sports, but the government does not give even a single penny for full contact karate. Due to which talented players like Suraj have to stumble for help.

The people of Amjad Molla’s village were very happy when Suraj was selected in the Indian team, they had also assured to help Amjad, but when the time came to help, everyone turned away.

Amjad Molla says that I arrange for Suraj’s training and food with great difficulty. I work in a tea shop. I am already in debt. I am sick too. So it is not possible for me to send Suraj to Bangkok. The people who had promised to help, don’t even receive my calls now. But seeing my son’s hard work, dedication and his future, I want him to participate in the World Championship. For this I have taken a loan from a private institution. I don’t know how I will repay this loan, but have taken this risk for my son’s future. My only wish is that the son of a Chai Wala should also represent India in the Karate World Championship and win gold medal for country.
