Prince of Indonesia Honours Abdul Qayyum with Indian Headlines Award at Presidency University
Kolkata: The annual sports event of Abul Hasan High School, a school under the Calcutta Muslim Orphanage, was held today at the Presidency University ground. The grand occasion was attended by several dignitaries, including Farzana Salim (Principal of AK Fazlul Haque School), Rehana Khatoon(Councillor), MLA Naina Bandhopadhyay, Abdul Majeed (President of the Calcutta Muslim Orphanage), Dur-e Shahwar(Principal of Abul Hasan High School), and Abdul Qaiyum Ansari (General Secretary of the Calcutta Muslim Orphanage), along with many other esteemed guests. The event saw a large gathering of students, faculty members, and well-wishers who came together to celebrate the spirit of sports and education.
A highlight of the event was the special honour conferred upon Abdul Qayyum Ansari by HRH Prince Dr. M.A. Ali of Indonesia. He was presented with the prestigious Indian Headlines Award in recognition of his unwavering dedication and contributions to society, particularly in the fields of education and social welfare. While presenting the award, Prince M.A. Ali acknowledged that Qaiyum’s contributions were beyond expectations, playing a significant role in uplifting the underprivileged and promoting education. The Prince commended his relentless efforts in ensuring better opportunities for students, enabling them to achieve academic and professional excellence.
Additionally, Indian karate champions Erum Seraj and Md. Ali Waris, who recently won gold medals at the World Meet in Indonesia, were also felicitated at the event. The school honored them for their achievements and their efforts in promoting martial arts. To inspire the young students, they performed an impressive martial arts demonstration, showcasing their skills and dedication to the sport. Their performance was met with great enthusiasm and applause from the audience, highlighting the importance of sports in building discipline, confidence, and perseverance among students.
The event also featured various sporting activities, with students participating in different competitions, including races, long jump, and team games.
