Md Ali Waris of Kolkata to Represent India in World Karate championship

Kolkata: Md Ali Waris, an 11-year-old student from St. Augustine Day School in Kolkata, has been selected to represent India in the 4th World Karate Championship 2024, taking place on May 8, 2024, in Bangkok at the Royal Rattnakoshin.

Md Ali Waris, who hails from Kolkata Municipal Corporation Ward 62, has previously won gold for the country twice. The event, expected to have participants from over 50 countries, will feature karate experts from around the world, with grading up to 9th Dan black belt. His Majesty the King of Padjadaran Kingdom, Indonesia, will grace the occasion as the chief guest.

Live telecast of the event will be conducted by A1 Global TV (UK), fostering peace among nations. The director of the event, M.A. Ali, highlighted the growth of the World Meet, with an increase in participating countries from 32 to over 50, and emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and international awards in promoting global peace.
